Day17: Shaharut and close to Timna in the night
Shaharut close to Timna in the night
We couldnt go in the evening to Shaharut, since the bus we wanted to go with has to be pre-ordered.
My friend Michael ordered it for us for the next morning. We were stuck at the junction close to the IDF tank unit. So we had to camp close to the street.
The next morning after we dried our equipment we went by bus to Shaharut. But it was already late, at 10.00 a.m. we started hiking and had 27km to go. Ron a travel guide from Modiin who wanted to meet his son later this day on the Shvil hiked with us for some km. He gave us a lot of explanations on the plants. For example on the rose of Sharon which only needs some rain to re-bloom and to spread its seeds.
We had magnificent views to the Edom mountains. On one of the peaks we met Urs and Claudia from Basel, Switzerland. They are also Christians and we felt the unity in our Lord. It was Claudias birthday so we sang a birthday song for her and blessed her.
We enjoyed the nature but also were challenged to reach Mangaan NC. When we reached a high altitude were we could see Timna Park below us, we enjoyed the gorgeous outlook. But we were also aware that we couldn't do the 400m descend while daylight. We decided to go for it and really it got quickly dark during our 45 minutes descend. But we had our head lamps switched on, walked very carefully and worked great as a team. Finally we reached the NC, set up everything and after a delicious Couscous we fell asleep.
